Panorama is the first Digital Command Center designed for Energy Sector and is located on the 37th floor of the Adnoc Headquarters, in Abu Dhabi. The project has received international recognition, most recently with the Industry Technology Award, in 2021.
Acting as a prototype that demonstrates the successful integration of BIG Data and AI in Command Centers, ‘Panorama’ is aptly named, referring both to the visualisation of large quantities of data which occurs within its walls, and its breathtaking view overlooking Abu Dhabi.
The 50 metre floor-to-ceiling LED Video Wall cuts across the Command Center, enabling the visualisation and analysis of multiple types of information, whilst enhancing the magnificent view of Abu Dhabi.
The project is characterised by the use of cutting edge technology, a dynamic layout, custom-made furniture in corian, stainless steel and glass. The tailor-made layout is characterised by curves that identify precise pathways, allowing for rapid circulation between workspaces and convey a sense of dynamism within the space. Five curve shaped consoles are located in front of the video wall, including a central main work-area which allows the full view of the screen from an elevated position. All the custom-made consoles are designed by Douglas Skene and are made of white corian backlit by RGB leds, as well as the ceiling, walls and flooring. The furniture, the acoustic boiserie, and most of lighting fixture are custom-made and follow ergonomic principles.
The lighting design is composed by integrated dynamic lighting – cold/warm white led strips to support work efficiency – and coloured RGB led strips embedded in walls, flooring, ceilings, furniture to create a variable environment which enables mental stimulation and emotional wellbeing.
The lounge and corridors are decorated with backlit large-scale pictures of the nearby UAE desert, as well as a sand-made pathway, providing balance between the highly technological environment and local natural heritage.
