The Control Building is designed to provide respite and stark contrast from the heavy industrial background and the elements that usually characterise an armed, blast-resistant bunker. This project won the first Gold LEED Sustainability Certificate for a centralised control building, due to the use of green infrastructure and water and energy efficiency.
The Control Building is designed to provide respite and stark contrast from the heavy industrial background and the elements that usually characterise an armed, blast-resistant bunker. A natural, grassy hill envelops the reinforced, concrete bunker, embodying a visual and physical oasis within its harsh surroundings, where a high level of environmental sustainability within both its external and internal design that provides a high quality everyday experience to its (n) workers.

Materials used?
The project has achieved the first golden LEED sustainability certificate for a control building by successfully integrating green infrastructure and high water and energy efficiency with the needs of a large centralised facility. In addition to the external green roof, vertical gardens (with what kind of plants? specific type?) are located inside the building, and grey water irrigation systems are implemented to reduce water waste.
